Terms of service
Text last revised: 2026-10-18
These Terms govern your use of WeBudget, the website and app at [TO COMPLETE: website domain]. By creating an account you accept them. Accepting the Terms does not mean consenting to advertising cookies: that is a separate choice you make in the cookie banner.
Version effective from: [TO COMPLETE: effective date].
1. Who provides the service
WeBudget is provided by [TO COMPLETE: name or company name of the controller] ([TO COMPLETE: individual, sole trader or company]), [TO COMPLETE: controller's address], email [TO COMPLETE: email for privacy requests]. [TO COMPLETE if applicable: VAT number / tax code]
2. The service
WeBudget is a free app to manage personal and couple budgets with spending categories: income, budgets per category, expenses, savings goals, month closing, a household with shared Home expenses, trips with expenses split across currencies, a shopping list, statement import and notifications. Every feature is free and none is reserved for paying users. The service may show ads to people using it for free, only with consent to advertising cookies; donations are voluntary and unlock nothing extra.
3. Account
You need an account with email and password or with Google or Facebook. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for what happens with your account; you can turn on two-step verification. If you suspect unauthorised access, change your password and write to us. The service is meant for adults [TO CHECK: minimum age].
4. Acceptable use
You may use WeBudget to manage your finances and, with a household or trips, those shared with people you invite. You may not: use the service for unlawful activities; enter other people's data without the right to do so; try to access other people's accounts or data; overload, scrape or bypass security measures and limits; use the service to send spam (for example through invites).
5. Sharing with others
When you join a household or a trip, the people involved see the shared data (Home expenses, shares, balances, trip expenses). Only invite people you trust. Expenses in personal categories stay private.
6. Your content
The data you enter remains yours. We process it only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy policy. You can export or delete it at any time from Settings.
7. No financial advice
WeBudget helps you organise spending. It is not financial, tax or investment advice: forecasts and suggestions are estimates calculated from the data you enter, not professional recommendations.
8. Third-party services
Some features use other companies' services: sign-in with Google or Facebook, donation payments on PayPal, Google AdSense advertising, exchange rates published by the European Central Bank. Their providers' terms also apply.
9. Intellectual property
The software, the WeBudget brand, texts and graphics belong to the controller or their respective authors. The service includes open-source software under its own licences. You may use the app but not copy, resell or build derivative services without permission.
10. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance, failures or external causes. We may change or remove features; for important changes that affect you we give advance notice where reasonably possible. If these Terms change we tell you in the app or by email before they apply; if you don't accept them you can delete your account.
11. Suspension and closure
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or endangers the security of the service or other users, after notice where possible. [TO DECIDE: whether and with what notice the controller may shut down the service, and how data would be returned.]
12. Liability
The service is free and provided with care but without a guarantee that it is always error-free. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for financial decisions made based on the app. Consumer rights that the law does not allow to be excluded, and liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, are unaffected. [TO CHECK with a professional.]
13. Governing law and courts
[TO DECIDE: governing law] applies. Disputes fall under [TO DECIDE: competent court, within consumer-protection rules]. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live remain competent and you may use the alternative dispute resolution procedures provided by law.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms write to [TO COMPLETE: email for privacy requests] or use the Support page.
