The free budget app that tells you what you can still spend

WeBudget splits your salary into Essentials, Fun and Savings and tells you every day how much you can still spend. Log an expense in 3 seconds, import your bank statement, save for your goals and share household costs with your partner.

  • No credit card
  • Ready in 2 minutes
  • Phone, tablet and computer

The problem

Reach the end of the month wondering where the money went?

Your balance is misleading

It shows what's there, not what you can spend: rent and bills due at month-end are already committed, but still look available.

The spreadsheet lasts two weeks

Formulas to fix, rows to copy, and nobody opens it on their phone at the checkout.

Other apps want your bank login

They need access to your account to work. WeBudget doesn't: you log expenses or import your statement.

WeBudget does one thing and does it well: it gives every euro of your salary a job and shows you, in real time, what's left.

How it works

Your monthly budget in 3 steps

  1. Enter your salary

Your take-home pay plus any extra income this month, like a bonus or refund. Change it whenever you like.

  2. Split it into groups and categories

Start from the ready-made 50/30/20 plan: Essentials, Fun and Savings, with categories like Home and Groceries. Or from what you really spend: upload a bank statement and WeBudget suggests the amounts.

  3. Log expenses, see what's left

Every expense comes off its category. Home tells you what you can spend today; at month-end you choose where the leftovers go.

Features

Everything you need to stay on budget, nothing more

Built for people who want to know where their money goes without spending their evenings on it.

Always know how much you can still spend

One number at the top of Home: what's left until month-end and how much per day. The bar compares the budget used with the days gone, so you instantly see if you're overspending.

  • Daily allowance until month-end
  • Categories grouped into Essentials, Fun and Savings
  • Upcoming recurring bills already set aside
  • Notifications before you overspend, not after
  • Move budget between categories in one tap, with Undo

Log an expense in 3 seconds

Tap +, type the amount and a note: the category picks itself and learns from your corrections. On your phone it guides you in three steps: amount, category, details.

  • Keypad that adds up: 12.50 + 8
  • Category from the shop and from your habits
  • Quick add: your frequent expenses with their last amount
  • Receipt photo: we read amount and shop
  • Split one receipt across categories
  • This month's recurring bills, logged in one tap

Import your bank statement, without linking your bank

Upload the file you download from your bank: WeBudget reads the transactions, suggests a category for each and you confirm. It learns from your corrections, so next time is even faster.

  • PDF, Word, photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC), CSV and Excel
  • Spots duplicates, income and transfers
  • As a couple: choose who paid household expenses
  • CSV, Excel and PDF are read on your device: the file never reaches our servers

Couples and family budgeting

As a couple, each with your own space

Invite your partner by email: household expenses become shared, personal ones stay private. You decide how to split, month by month.

  • Four ways to split: half each, in proportion to income, each covers some costs, or by percentage
  • Every change is a proposal the other accepts, from the month you choose
  • Who paid, on every household expense
  • Automatic balance, trips together included, settled with one tap
  • Shared goals and shopping list, private personal expenses

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is WeBudget really free?

Yes. Every feature is free and unlimited: budget and categories, bank statement import, goals, annual expenses, couple budgeting, shopping list and trips with friends. No credit card needed to sign up.

How is WeBudget funded if it's free?

Through voluntary donations and, only if you accept advertising cookies, a few discreet ads at the bottom of some pages. Donations don't unlock features: donors can ask to have ads removed.

Do I have to connect my bank account?

No. WeBudget never asks for access to your bank. Log expenses by hand in seconds, or import the statement you download from online banking.

How does the bank statement import work?

Upload your statement as PDF, Word, photo (JPG, PNG, HEIC), CSV or Excel. WeBudget reads the transactions, suggests a category for each and flags duplicates, income and transfers. You check, fix if needed and confirm: only then are expenses saved. CSV, Excel and text PDFs are read on your device and the file never reaches our servers.

Can I use it as a couple or family?

Yes. You invite your partner by email and each keeps a personal space. Household categories are shared: split them half each, in proportion to income, with each covering some costs, or by percentage, and change the rule from one month to the next. WeBudget works out who owes what, trips together included.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. WeBudget runs in the browser of any phone, tablet or computer and installs on your Home Screen like an app: on iPhone from Safari via Share → Add to Home Screen, on Android from Chrome via Install app.

What is the 50/30/20 rule?

A simple way to split take-home pay: 50% to needs (housing, bills, groceries, transport), 30% to wants (eating out, hobbies, travel) and 20% to savings. In WeBudget it's the ready-made starting point, and you can adjust it however you like.

How is it different from a spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet has to be built and updated by hand and is awkward on a phone. WeBudget is ready in 2 minutes, tells you every day what you can spend, recognises categories on its own and handles couples and annual expenses.

Where is my data stored?

On servers in the European Union, with encrypted connections. We don't sell or share your financial data. All the details are in the privacy policy.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes, anytime from Settings: export your expenses as CSV, which opens in Excel or Numbers, or all your data as JSON, and delete your account with all its data.

Is WeBudget available in Italian?

Yes, the interface is in English and Italian and you can switch language whenever you like.

Can I use it just to split trip expenses?

Yes. Anyone invited to a trip can use just that, without creating a budget: expenses in several currencies, shares and balances. They can unlock every feature later if they want.

How do I get help?

From the Help button at the bottom right of the site and app, or from the Support page: we reply by email.

WeBudget is an independent project: no subscriptions, nothing locked. A small donation helps pay for servers, the domain and an EU database.
